Embracing Ramadan: Gratitude, Reflection, and Togetherness

March 27, 2025

With Ramadan nearing its end, make the most of these final days to reflect, seek forgiveness, and strengthen your connection. It’s not just about fasting but also about deepening our faith, spreading kindness, and strengthening connections with loved ones. So, let’s seize every moment to increase our worship and end Ramadan on a meaningful note.

Meaningful Practices During Ramadan

1. Tarawih Prayers

This special nightly prayer performed only in Ramadan is one of the most recommended acts of worship. Besides bringing inner peace, it also strengthens our connection with Allah SWT. Whether performed in congregation at the mosque or individually at home, it holds immense spiritual benefits [1]

2. Reciting the Quran

Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed, and Muslims are encouraged to increase their recitation and reflection upon its verses. The Quran was revealed gradually over 23 years to the Prophet Muhammad SAW, beginning with the first revelation in the Cave of Hira. [2] This makes Ramadan the perfect time to reconnect with the holy book.

3. Giving Back and Helping Others

Charity is highly encouraged during Ramadan. Whether by providing meals for iftar or donating to those in need, every act of kindness carries immense rewards. [3]

4. Qiamullail and Night Prayers

Waking up in the last third of the night for tahajjud prayers and supplications provides peace and spiritual growth, especially during the last ten nights of Ramadan. These nights are filled with opportunities to seek divine blessings and forgiveness, particularly on the Night of Decree (Lailatul Qadr). [4]

As how Allah SWT said:

"And what could make you conceive what the Night of Power is?, The Night of Power is better than a thousand months." [5]

This means that any act of worship done on this blessed night holds immeasurable rewards.

5. Breaking Fast in Moderation

Iftar is not just about satisfying our hunger; it is also a reminder to be grateful for the blessing of having enough food for both sahur and iftar—something not everyone is fortunate to have.

Sharing meals with family and friends not only strengthens bonds but also brings blessings that we should cherish. Therefore, eating in moderation is not only beneficial for our health but also helps maintain focus in worship throughout this blessed month, allowing us to experience Ramadan more meaningfully [3].
